3.7.7 Inspection Procedure
f. On the remaining joints, prove-up is required when
an indication is greater than the threshold set for ux
leakage equipment. A aw detection non-destructive
examination such as magnetic particle inspection or
ultrasonic inspection shall be used in the prove-up.
If wall monitoring equipment is utilized, prove-up
is also required when an indication is less than the
threshold set for the wall thickness equipment.

3.11.16 JSH HYHT and JSHET Connections
In addition to the Visual Connection requirements of
paragraph 3.11.4, JSH HYHT and JSHET connections
shall meet the following requirements.
Note: When conicts arise between this specication and the
manufacturers requirements, the manufacturer’s requirements
shall apply.
a. Preparation: All threads and make-up shoulder
surfaces shall be cleaned suciently to allow for
visual inspection. e starting threads of the pin
and box connections should be cleaned using a soft
wheel” or other bung method. Caution: e cleaning
should not bu o or remove the phosphate coating.
b. Primary Shoulder (Seal): e seal surface shall be
free of galls, pits, nicks, washes, ns, dents, scratches,
cuts, or other conditions that would adversely aect
its stability or pressure holding capacity. Damage
that exceeds 1/32 inch in depth is NOT acceptable.
Any location where the seal surface has damage
that cumulatively covers more than 1/3 of the radial
width is not acceptable. If the damage exceeds these
limits, refacing shall be used to repair the seal face.
Any metal protrusion above the seal surface is not
acceptable and refacing has to be done prior to
re-using. No ling on the primary make-up shoulder
is permitted.
c. Secondary Shoulder (Mechanical Stop): Damage
that exceeds 1 inch along the circumference is
NOT acceptable. e Secondary Shoulder is not a
sealing surface. Damage to this surface is not critical
unless it exceeds the limits mentioned above. If the
damage exceeds these limits and cannot be repaired
by refacing or redressing, repair by rethreading as
applicable.

¶ 3.11.16 - Add new section
d. Refacing: e refacing repair should only remove
enough material to repair the damage. A maximum
of 1/32 inch of material may be removed during
each refacing operation, and up to 1/16 inch may be
removed from the connection before rethreading is
required.
e. reads: read roots should be free of damage that
extends below the radius. read crests should be free
of damage that interfere with make-up. If applicable,
any material that protrudes beyond the thread prole
should be removed using a round cornered triangle
hand le or a soft bung wheel.
JSHET Connections: e stab ank to crest

HYHT and JSHET Connections: read ank
surfaces for HYHT and the remaining thread
ank surfaces for JSHET shall be free of damage
that exceeds 1/16 inch in depth or 1/8 inch in
diameter/width.
f. Lead: e thread lead shall be veried by the prole
gauge. If visible gaps between the prole gauge
and the thread surfaces indicate that the threads
are stretched, the lead shall be measured over a
2-inch interval and shall not exceed 0.006 inch. If
the measured lead exceeds these limits, repair by
rethreading.
g. Cracks: Any cracks identied during the inspec-
tion process are NOT acceptable.

3.13.2 Inspection Apparatus
h. JSH HYHT and JSHET Connections: In addition
to the requirements of 3.13.2a, a depth micrometer
is also required. See section 2.21 for calibration
requirements. A eld inspection drawing, latest
revision, is also required. Dimensions provided in
Tables 3.7.27-3.7.28 are considered equivalent at the
time of this documents release. Responsibility for
ensuring the documents dimensions are equivalent
to JSH remains with the inspector.
