Committee on 2 October 2024.
Approved for publication in New Zealand by the New Zealand Standards Approval Board on 2 October 2024.
This amendment takes effect 2 years from the date of publication of this amendment. During this period, the standard
AS/NZS 60335.2.43:2018 without this amendment will remain current. Regulatory authorities that reference this
standard in regulation may apply these requirements at a different time. Users of this standard should consult these
authorities to confirm their requirements.

Add the following as a new fifth paragraph:
This standard incorporates Amendment No. 1 (November 2024). The changes introduced by
the amendments are indicated in the text by a marginal bar and amendment number against
the part affected. Where an application date other than immediate is applicable to an
amendment, the date of application (DOA) and the date of withdrawal (DOW), if relevant, are
indicated by the marginal bar against the part affected. Unless otherwise indicated, the
application date of the changes introduced by Amendment No. 1 is 29 November 2026.
NOTE Regulatory authorities that reference this standard in regulation may apply these amendment requirements
at a different time. Users of this standard should consult these authorities to confirm their requirements.

7.12.1 Addition:
p Add the following text:
For fixed towel rails delivered with a separate connector to ease the installation and establish
the supply connection, the instructions shall state the substance of the following:
Use only the supplied connector when installing the towel rail.
22 Construction
p Add the following new subclause:
AZ.22.101
Fixed towel rails may be delivered with a separate connector to ease the
installation and establish the supply connection. Such a connector shall become a non-
detachable part once engaged.
Such a connector shall not be interchangeable with plugs and socket outlets listed in
IEC/TR 60083 or IEC 60906-1 or with appliance couplers complying with the standard sheets
of IEC 60320-3.
Compliance is checked by inspection.
24 Components
p Add the following text:
24.1.5 Addition:
Connectors which are non-detachable parts once engaged, are not considered to be part of
an appliance coupler.
AZ.24.1.101 The relevant standard for a connector as referenced in AZ.22.101 is IEC
61984:2008. Classification and ratings used for the tests of IEC 61984:2008 shall correspond
to the ratings of the fixed towel rail, when installed as per the manufacturer’s instructions.
The following subclauses of IEC 61984:2008 and the corresponding test requirements in clause
7, are not applicable: 5.2 a), 5.4 d), 6.2.1, 6.2.2, 6.4.1, 6.4.2, 6.4.3, 6.10, 6.14.2, 6.14.3, 6.17,
6.19 and 6.20. Subclause 6.5.1 is also applicable for connectors without breaking capacity
(COC). Subclauses 6.15 and 6.16 are applicable but are modified to the fixed towel rail
temperature ratings. The tests in subclauses 7.3.6 and 7.3.7 are performed when the connector
referenced in subclause 22.101 is engaged.
