p. 12, Section 4.3.1.2, revised as:
4.3.1.2 Machine unbalance load (meeting industry criteria)Many rotating machines are balanced
to an initial balance quality either in accordance with the manufacturer’s procedures or as specified by the
purchaser. ISO 1940-1 and ASA/ANSI S2.19 define balance quality in terms of a constant emo. For
example, the normal balance quality Q for parts of process-plant machinery is 0.25 in./second (6.3
mm/second). Typical balance quality grade examples are shown in Table 4.3.1.2. To meet these criteria a
rotor intended for faster speeds should be better balanced than one operating at a slower speed. Using this
approach, Eq. (4.3.1.1) can be rewritten as:

Fo = mrQoSf /1000 N
where units of Q are in in./s in the inch-pound system and mm/s in the SI systemwhere Q is in inch-pound
and SI systems is ft/second and mm/second respectively.
