This new publication is a comprehensive presentation
of practical information on current design, detailing,
fabrication, transportation, and installation
procedures for prestressed concrete piles used to
support buildings, bridges, marine, or other ancillary
structures.
It was rst printed in the Precast/Prestressed Concrete
Institute Bridge Design Manual (MNL-133) as Chapter
20, Precast Prestressed Concrete Piles in 2004 and
will be included in the PCI Bridge Design Manual,
Fourth Edition, Second Release in 2025. It is reprinted
in this form as a convenience for designers and others
with an interest in precast, prestressed concrete piles.
The Fourth Edition, Second Release is updated
to comply with the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design
Specications ninth edition and the recommendations
and commentary of ANSI/PCI 142-24, Specication
for Precast, Prestressed Concrete Piles. Example
problems are presented in accordance with both
documents. The PCI Pile Interaction-Diagram
Spreadsheet (PCI PD-01), (PCI PD-01, 2015) is used
to construct axial load-and-moment interaction
diagrams.
