RATIONALE

AMS2242H is the result of a Five-Year Review and update of the specification. SI converted values have been

added throughout.

1. SCOPE

This specification covers established manufacturing tolerances applicable to sheet, strip, and plate of corrosion- and

heat-resistant steels, iron alloys, titanium, and titanium alloys. These tolerances apply to all conditions, unless otherwise

noted. The term “excl” is used to apply only to the higher figure of the specified range.

2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS

The issue of the following documents in effect on the date of the purchase order forms a part of this specification to the

extent specified herein. The supplier may work to a subsequent revision of a document unless a specific document issue is

specified. When the referenced document has been cancelled and no superseding document has been specified, the last

published issue of that document shall apply.

2.2 Definitions

Terms used in AMS are defined in AS7766.

3. THICKNESS

Thickness for sheet and strip is measured at any place on widths less than 1 inch (25.4 mm), at any place 0.375 inch

(9.52 mm) and over from an edge on widths 1 inch (25.4 mm) and over, and for plate at least 0.375 inch (9.52 mm) but not

over 3 inches (76.2 mm) from an edge.
