1 Scope
1.1 This documentation establishes the minimum technical requirements and
recommendations for the qualifications, design, installation, testing and inspection
for the application of nonmetallic composite repair system to corroded or damaged
equipment. This specification is an addendum to all part of ISO 24817 which
covers composite repairs for equipment i.e. pipework, pipelines, tanks and vessels.
1.2 Composite repair is applicable to aboveground, buried, subsea and offshore topside
pipework’s and pipelines including downhole applications (surface casing only)
used in oil and gas industry.
1.3 The use of composite repair for tanks and vessels as outlined in ISO 24817 is
subjected to the approval of the Tank and Vessel Group of Consulting Services
Department.
1.4 This documentation also applies to repairs of both metallic and non-metallic
(substrate) pipe materials. A detailed summary of composite repair applicability is
stipulated in Section 5.
2 Conflicts and Deviations
Any conflicts between this document and other applicable Mandatory Saudi Aramco
Engineering Requirements (MSAERs) shall be addressed to the EK&RD Coordinator.
Any deviation from the requirements herein shall follow internal company procedure
SAEP-302.
