1 Scope

1.1 This specification defines the minimum material and performance requirements

for photovoltaic (PV) power supplies designed for stand-alone cathodic

protection (CP) systems.

1.2 This specification does NOT apply to any PV power supplies (P/S) designed to;

1.2.1 Supply power to Alternating Current (AC) loads;

1.2.2 Supply power to any Direct Current (DC) load share that is unrelated to the CP

system;

Note: This is typically due to unfavorable load shed priorities for the CP when

compared to more process-critical functions; in addition to conflicting PV battery

backup requirements between CP and other process loads.

1.2.3 Or where Project requirements mandate the design and/or operation of

Cathodic Protection PV P/S system(s) to be electrically integrated with other non-

CP site PV load requirements. In this instance, SAPMT and Proponent responsible

to implement load shedding scheme as long as maintaining defined battery days

of autonomy for CP systems (refer to Section 6.3). The PV P/S requirements shall

default to that of SAES-P-128, however this shall in no way alleviate the

responsible SAPMT and Proponent from meeting all CP commissioning and

operating/monitoring requirements in accordance with SAEP-332 and SAEP-333

respectively.

2 Conflicts and Deviations

Any conflicts between this document and other applicable Mandatory Saudi Aramco

Engineering Requirements (MSAERs) shall be addressed to the EK&RD Coordinator.

Any deviation from the requirements herein shall follow internal company procedure

SAEP-302.
