1 Scope
This materials system specification specifies the minimum technical requirements for
design, engineering, manufacture, inspection, testing, performance, and acceptance
criteria of a composite overhead optical fiber-ground wire (OPGW) that is installed as
part of the electrical transmission system that serves as a ground wire with
telecommunications capabilities. This specification is an addendum to all parts of
IEEE 1138: 2009.
2 Conflicts and Deviations
Any conflicts between this document and other applicable Mandatory Saudi Aramco
Engineering Requirements (MSAERs) shall be addressed to the EK&RD Coordinator.
Any deviation from the requirements herein shall follow internal company procedure
SAEP-302.

The selection of material and equipment, and the design, construction, maintenance, and
repair of equipment and facilities covered by this specification shall comply with the
latest edition of the references listed below, unless otherwise noted.
