1 Scope

This specification defines the minimum mandatory requirements for qualifying

field-applied liquid coating products for renovation and repair of buried pipelines and

piping in accordance with SAES-H-002. This specification covers Saudi Aramco

approved protective coating systems APCS-113A for liquid coatings, with solid volume

97% (±3) as per SAES-H-002V. Use this specification when any of the situations

defined below:

1.1 Initial Product Approval

This specification shall be given to coating manufacturers, or other vendors of

coating products, who need to obtain initial approval for products that have not

previously been qualified in accordance with this specification.

Any testing conducted for Saudi Aramco shall be based on a pre-approved test

protocol; wherein this specification is the reference.

1.2 Purchase Requisitions/Purchase Orders

Including a copy of this specification is not required for purchase orders or

requisitions of coating products that have been previously qualified per this

specification.

1.3 Periodic Product Compliance Checks

This specification should be used for periodic product compliance checks on

previously approved coatings.

2 Conflicts and Deviations

2.1 Any conflicts between this document and other applicable Mandatory Saudi

Aramco Engineering Requirements (MSAERs) shall be addressed to the

EK&RD Coordinator.

2.2 Any deviation from the requirements herein shall follow internal company

procedure SAEP-302

3 Definitions and Abbreviations

Buyer: Saudi Aramco Purchasing Department Representative.

Buyer’s Representative: The person or persons designated by the Purchasing

Department to monitor / enforce the contract. Normally, this is the on-site

inspector.

CSD: Consulting Services Department, Engineering Services.

EK&RD: Engineering Knowledge & Resources Division.

DFT: Dry Film Thickness.

RUS: Responsible Unit Supervisor or a coating engineer designated by the

Manager, Consulting Services Department. He is responsible for product

approvals and for interpretation of this specification.

The selection of material and equipment, design, construction, maintenance, and

repair of equipment and facilities covered by this specification shall comply

with the latest edition of the references listed below on the date of the purchase

order, unless otherwise noted.
