February 5, 2007.

Correspondence The European standard EN 13307-1:2006 has the status of a French standard.

Analysis This document forms part of a series of standards finalized by the CEN/TC 175

"Round and sawn hardwood". This European standard specifies requirements for

timber blanks and semi-finished profiles for non-structural uses. It includes glued

laminated and glued finger jointed products. It applies to hardwood and to softwood

for use in joinery.

The regulations of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) requires that the European standards

adopted by its members be transposed into national standards at the latest within 6 months following their

ratification and that conflicting national standards be cancelled.

This European standard adopted by the CEN on September 11, 2006 forms part of a series of standards (package)

dealing with identical subjects (NF EN 14220, NF EN 14221, NF EN 13307-1 and NF EN 942 rev) which are

interdependent and certain of which are still in preparation (EN 942rev).

It is why the European Committee for Standardization has established a transitional period necessary for the

completion of this series of European standards, during which the European Committee for Standardization

members are authorised to maintain their own earlier adopted national standards.

The implementation of these standards is set for October 31, 2007.

This European Standard was approved by CEN on 11 September 2006.
