National foreword

This British Standard is the English language version of EN 10087:1998.

Together with BS EN 10083-1:1991, BS EN 10084:1998, BS EN 10088-1:1995,

BS EN 10088-2:1995 and BS EN 10088-3:1995, it supersedes BS 970-1:1996

which is withdrawn.

National annex NA describes steels used in the United Kingdom but not

included in the European Standard.

The UK participation in its preparation was entrusted to Technical Committee

ISE/31, Wrought steels, which has the responsibility to:

— aid enquirers to understand the text;

— present to the responsible European committee any enquiries on the

interpretation, or proposals for change, and keep the UK interests informed;

— monitor related international and European developments and

promulgate them in the UK.

A list of organizations represented on this committee can be obtained on

request to its secretary.
